Portola Valley Residence

Located in scenic Portola Valley, this single-story residence offers panoramic views of the Peninsula Coastal Range and nearby Windy Hill Open Space Preserve. The project was sited not only to maximize views but to take full advantage of solar access and prevailing westerly winds to aid in passive heating and cooling. Rather than prominently locating the residence on the hillside, the project was instead nestled into the existing contours of the 2.5 acre site allowing the low building forms and natural palette of materials to blend with the landscape. The contemporary craftsman design compliments the native grasslands and live oaks dotting the property without upstaging the natural beauty that surrounds it.
